LeapFrog MyRobotFriend iOS App Review

RobotApp We downloaded the Leap Frog MyRobotFriend iOS App on our iPad and my son loves it! He turns five in a few weeks and he was able to navigate through the game by himself in the beginning. As the levels got harder he needed some help from me but we had fun playing with it together.

MyRobotFriend5In the app, you have a robot that you can customize and you direct him through different mazes to get the treasure chest. It’s a fun game that uses sequencing, math skills and problem-solving. I was surprised when we needed to move six spaces and we didn’t have a six so I asked my son, “How else can we make six?”  He said, “a two, a two and a two.” Wow! I was impressed. Then I told him you could also use four and two, five and one, or three and three. We did this same thing with several numbers and he started remembering them. Isn’t it great when they learn while they play! App togetherOur seven-year-old neighbor friend came over and he and my son had a blast playing this game together. I think this would also be a great app for older kids that could play more independently.  As the levels got harder, it was a little too hard for my four-year-old, but he didn’t lose interest at all.  Instead, we just played together and had a fun time working out the levels and talking about different ways we could collect coins and defeat the (cute, stuffed animal) bad guys.

This is definitely a great app with lots of learning opportunities.  If you download the Leap Frog MyRobotFriend iOS App we’d love to know what you think of it! Another great thing is once you’ve purchased the app there’s nothing to buy in the game. I can’t tell you how many times my son has gotten frustrated because he’s pushed a purchase button (which I now have blocked) and he can’t go any further in the game.
